I recently joined the forum, hoping to sign up to what I was told "was the best free internet hosting provider around" and yet when I reach the website what am I confronted by? An ad in plain site for nuts at the top of every page because of link bucks. Now I can understand this, maybe times are hard and you need to make a few extra dollars here and there. But what takes the biscuit is now you have to do one of those "fill out a survey to access this" forms. They do not work, anyone who says they do clearly have never tried one. Most of them cost money in the long run (read the small print) therefore destroying the entire idea of "free hosting". They take time, and I found out the hard way that this was true when I spent about 10 minutes of my time "testing" my IQ on a cheezy site, and what do I get for finishing it? Access to the page? No. I get a lovely error message that tells me to go back and pick another survey. Honestly by this point I have just given up and will be going to another provider. I hope you marketing section enjoys what it does...

HostCell is one of the best if not the best free host you can get. I'm not so sure what your talking about when it comes to the ads. I have seen linkbunks appear sometimes, but not any quizes or any type of ads like that. I have a popup/adblocker plugin installed in my browser. Maybe you should do the same if your annoyed with ads...

we've only just added what your talking about (2days ago) and i did a test just now and therefore will tell the main admin (Chris) Basically you have to understand that we get LOADS of unwanted sign ups that takes our time up by manually accepting or declining the application. We do it manually then we know NO SPAMMERS are getting through as automated is not that good than a human :) So, like i said will report back to the Main Admin. Sorry about that and hope to fix it A.S.A.P

Hmmmm, I dont know if that was intended or not. I am hoping not. Anyone who tries to connect thru a work proxy wont be able to join up (my proxy blocks those pages all together). I checked the other day and this did not come up, so the advertisers might have done something that we did not know about. Chris will be able to provide an answer.

Pity about losing crgaming as a new Host-Cellmate. He must have spend 10+ minutes making a helpful post, and in good English too! Perhaps it would be worth an email to him suggesting he try the next version of the sign-up system.

I have been trying to pass trough this horrible hosting enrolment system since yesterday and have no idea how it works. It is really childish solution implemented there and I am about to find another hosting provider for my blog.
