I recently got the email about the new rules to stop your site being deactivated. I see a few issues with this. Firstly. How can you post if you cant get on the forum ? The site is always down. Busy. Unavailable. Times out. I have spent 3 hours today waiting to put this post here. In fact my wife always tells people when looking at our site keep trying its always off. I know its free but you would expect it to work. The health service in the uk is free but they dont go killing people off and you do get a service. Maybe the reason only 1 in 5 post is because its always down. My worry is if 2 in 5 people start topost the service will get worse. Please dont blame my connection I have the best broadband money can buy and I also work for a provider. Another issue. Many people take a 2 week vacation and really dont want to be sat on holiday thinking I must go post so my site stays up. Surly a month is a better time frame ? Service is great when running. I would even pay to get some guarantee but just could not trust it. Servers look like they are overloaded thats why so many time outs. Sorry a bit negative. Some times its a great service but 90% of the time its not. Micks PS post 1 of 2 in 2 weeks done.

Noticed! :) The reason it went down today was to speed up and optimize the server. But it was down for like 5 minutes. It might have been inaccessible yesterday since we had to transfer the domain ownership. I dont and wont ever blame on connection. But it might have been a dnscache issue. We are working on a 99.9% uptime, We are also thinking of an alternative plan like if you cant post for a while you can do something else . Look at the other discussion. I have explained this before! You will see a lot of update time to time. 2 weeks means 4 week in a month=4 post per month.

I never use the forums as I never seem to be able to get on. 3 hours I had the page open. I even started to think maybe I had done a typo. My site seems to time out everytime I try access it. Thats why the wife says keep trying. Anyway nice to see you actually read your own forums. I like the service (when it works) thats why I stuck around. Maybe it will get better and more reliable. I will be active in the forums from now. Because im curious as to how things move along. If I find good I will say its good. Bad and I will say bad. Like the new look of the forums. Micks

I don't understand but the forum actually loads very fast in my browser. I actually felt I'm the only one home because it's so fast it's weird. Maybe this site has problems reaching your country or too many visitors from your country. I don't know not really sure i'm not an expert.

Since the service has changed hardware locations, it may take a while for everyone's domain name servers to catch up. I am finding the forums very fast and responsive right now, but I have been out of country this past week and have not tried in a while (which means that my provider does not have the site cached to an old ip address either). There really should not be an issue with being in different countries, seeing how communications travels at the speed of light, it is bringing us all a whole lot closer :)

The site loads amazing for me, try and delete your cookies and clear your cache, that might work. And honestly I have no idea why it is a problem to post 4 times a month to maintain your FREE hosting account.

It is the same thing as many people have a real fear of speaking in public. It isn't a conscious decision, or even a logical process, it is just the way they are. Some people just feel nervous about posting in public.

I agree. I use my website for a student class on Internet law, that only runs for 14 weeks a year. See cyberspac.com. It is hard for me to post every two weeks, just to keep a site up that is only used for part of the year.

I read your file jurisdiction.ppt with a shudder! International law has moved on a bit since I first studied it. I am wondering how far the UK Courts would regard Gutnick as persuasive authority, but I can't really expect an Australian professor to know! I see the reference to geocities, which no longer exist, so I am looking forward to the next edit of your website in a new semester.

Wow! This reminds me why I and most people I know don't contribute to forums. Strangely enough it also echoes a recent article in a national British newspaper; Is the Internet bringing out your darker side? which recognises the tendency for folk to say things on the web that they certainly wouldn't say to their face. Fascinating stuff.

Errr... The article says, "Back in the good old days, celebrities used to get drunk at awards ceremonies, hurl insults and occasionally punches at each other. But these days the internet is the virtual bar where they brawl." By all means call jswinson and myself celebrities, but there were no insults! I "shuddered" upon reading the file because I realised how out-of-date my knowledge had become since I passed law school, and not as a criticism of the author! Equally, to say that, "I can't really expect an Australian professor to know", about UK law is not derogatory. It was just a hint that, although such a question would be unfair if I implied that he ought to know, I would still be interested in his opinion!

Well I have to apologise if the paragraph was supposed to be complimentary. I guess jswinson will determine that!

It is always a compliment to a professor when somebody reads his coursework, and likes it enough to comment on it. Rest assured that a professor of law will be used to untangling the logic in lengthy prose.
